MAY NEWSLETTER

It's May, and that means that the summer months are just around the corner.   May  is always a busy month for our church. On the first Sunday (May 4) we   celebate  first communion for our 5th Graders. This is an exciting time for the   young  people  as they receive the bread and wine for the first time. Then on   May 18, we  celebrate our Confirmation Sunday. This year we will confirm   one member of our  church, as he will publicly confess his faith and affirm his   Baptism. There is also  graduation and Mother’s Day during May, so we   honor   and congratulate many  people during this Spring month.

But as I said, summer is just around the corner and that means some changes   are  coming. First of all, we change to our summer hours. Our worship   service   will  begin at 10:30 am. Also, during the summer I will be using   different worship  settings for our services. I feel that we need more variety in   our worship to keep it  fresh and vibrant. We will be using the “Service of the   Word” (on page 126 in the  front of the hymnal) for the second Sunday of the   month. On the third Sunday we  will be using “Setting Two” (staring on page   76). There will be a guitar service  on the fourth Sunday. We will continue to   use “Setting One” for our communion  services on the first Sunday of the   month. I would also like to use some of the old  favorite Gospel songs, many of   which are not in our two hymnals. If you have any  favorites, please let me   know. We can always print the words in the bulletin.

Finally, I am going to make some changes in my life style this summer. As   most  of  you know, I had gastric by-pass surgery on April 28. This means a   major change  in my diet. I am going to need your prayers and support, which   I  have already  had  from a great many of you. I want to thank you all for that.

Your friend in Christ,

Pastor Ron
