DECEMBER NEWSLETTER

Friends in Christ,

As most of you know, during Lent we hold mid-week services with four churches involved: Bethlehem, St. Paul, Immanuel, and Bethany. These mid-week Lent services have been meaningful for all involved, providing worship and fellowship between our church families. It has worked so well, four years ago we held four mid-week services during Advent. Since they went so well the first four years, we are going to join with our Lent partners for four Advent mid-week services again this year. Advent is the time leading up to Christmas, as we prepare for the coming of the Lord. We will be doing a series called: "The Real Christmas" (based on the study from Crossways International). Our first mid-week Advent service will be Wednesday, November 28 at 7:00 pm. The schedule is:

November 28 - 1st Week in Advent

"Setting the Stage"

Bethlehem Lutheran Church in Jacksonville

December 5 - 2nd Week in Advent

"The King is Born"

Immanuel Lutheran Church in Kimballton

December 12 - 3rd Week in Advent

"God's New Kingdom Grows"

St. Paul Lutheran Church in Irwin

December 19 - 4th Week in Advent

"God's New Kingdom Lasts Forever"

Bethany Lutheran Church in Kimballton

Worship at 7:00 pm

Also this year, we will be doing a series of Children's Sermons based on the Christmas Tree. On the first Sunday in Advent, we start with the bare Christmas tree, and each Sunday in Advent will add to the decorating of the tree.

1st Sunday in Advent: "The Tree of Life

2nd Sunday in Advent: "The Light of the World"

3rd Sunday in Advent: "Decorations of Hope"

4th Sunday in Advent: "The Gifts Under the Tree"

Christmas Eve: "The Star That Guides"

I hope during this busy time of year, you can set aside time for these special worship services.

Your friend in Christ,

Pastor Ron
