BLC COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES 11/17/10

Council members present: Paul Stewart, Wayne Petersen, Jason Petersen, Gail Peterson, Pastor Ron Rasmussen, Lori Rold, Mary Lou Andersen, Ron Doonan and Steve Mikkelsen,

Pastor led with devotions from Matthew 22: 34-40

Paul Stewart called the meeting to order.

Gail Peterson read the minutes of the 10/17/10meeting. Motion to approve by Lori Rold, 2nd by Jason Petersen, motion carried.

Lori Rold gave the treasurer's report. BLC has been receiving Choice Dollars from Thrivent Financial for Lutherans from members' designations of funds. Motion to approve by Steve Mikkelsen, 2nd by Mary Lou Andersen, motion carried.

Mary Lou Andersen gave the financial secretary's report. New offering envelopes have been received and are at the church, members are asked to take theirs and any family members to help deliver them, so that there won't be many that will need mailed. Motion to approve by Gail Peterson, 2nd by Wayne Petersen, motion carried.

Pastor's report included:

Pastor has sent paperwork to LCMC and will have a meeting with them to discuss his clergy status, once he has received his status from them he will roll over his pension and health insurance with LCMC.

Youth meeting was held to discuss the upcoming years events, a ski trip to Crescent has been planned. Fundraisers will include cactus's and poinsettias sales and the soup supper which the free will offering will be used to help support the Ryan DeMott Foundation and the Acquire the Fire event on March 4-5.

Advent series, "While Shepherds Watch" , will begin on Nov. 24th at St. Paul's Lutheran Church, Dec. 1st at Bethany, Dec. 8th at BLC and Dec. 15th at Immanuel Lutheran Church.

Motion to approve by Ron Doonan, 2nd by Lori Rold, motion carried.

Announcements:

Thank Offering will be Sunday, November 21st.

Soup Supper will be November 24th, with the first Advent Service at St. Paul's Lutheran Church at 7:30 pm.

Pastor Ron will be sponsoring Christmas music along with service information and times on KNOD radio station.

Old Business:

Jason Petersen reported that Jay Schechinger will be working on the pews, with hopes of being completed by Christmas. He will also be hanging the confirmation pictures back up for us.

New Business:

BLC council will be proposing amendments to our church constitution at the annual meeting in January.

Christmas services this year will be as follows: Dec. 24th 5:30pm at St. Paul's and 7:30pm at BLC, and a 10:30pm service at St. Paul's. Continuous communion will be offered at these services.

Nominations for 2011: 4 council seats will be open outgoing council members: Paul Stewart, Lori Rold, Steve Mikkelsen and Gail Peterson. Please consider being a part of your church council for the upcoming year.

Mary Lou Andersen made a motion for the church women to purchase a new coffee pot and additional silverware for the kitchen, this will be paid by designated memorial funds. Motion was 2nd by Ron Doonan, motion carried.

Next meeting will be Sunday, December 12th at 5pm., with dinner to discuss 2011 budget and annual meeting business.
