BLC COUNCIL MEETING MINUTES 5/19/10

Council members present: Lori Rold, Gail Peterson, Paul Stewart, Pastor Ron, Ron Doonan, Mary Lou Andersen, Steve Mikkelsen, David Christensen.

Pastor led with devotions from Galatians 5: 13.

Paul Stewart called the meeting to order.

Gail Peterson read the minutes of the 4/21/10 meeting. Motion to approve by Lori Rold, 2^nd by Steve Mikkelsen, motion carried.

Lori Rold gave the treasurer's report, motion to approve by Ron Doonan, 2^nd by Mary Lou Andersen, motion carried.

Mary Lou Andersen gave the financial secretary's report. Our BLC Thrivent CD has been renewed. Mary Lou is checking into companies for our offering envelopes as the old company does not make the size we have been receiving anymore. She will report back to the council her findings at our next meeting. Motion to approve by Lori Rold, 2^nd by Steve Mikkelsen, motion carried.

Pastor's report included:

Pastor attended the Word Alone Conference in Minneapolis on April 18-19.

He is planning on attending the Lutheran Core Convocation in Columbus, Ohio on August 24-27. He also attended the Synod Assembly on May 1-2.

Pastor will be on vacation from September 29th-October 10^th.

Announcements:

Our second adult forum date will be decided and all are welcome to attend and share their thoughts and concerns.

Old Business:

Pastor received call from Roger Prois from the Western Iowa Synod and he will be coming to BLC on June 16^th for a consultation with the congregation.

New Business:

VBS will be June 14-17^th , with a kick-off on Sunday evening the 13^th.

The repairs on the parsonage garage door opener have not been completed yet.

June 20^th will be the date that we change Sunday service time, we will have worship service at 10:30am. This is a change from the original June 6^th date that was announced in the last newsletter.

Ron Doonan made a motion, 2^nd by Gail Peterson, to let FMCTC have their Annual Appreciation dinner for the Jacksonville exchange at BLC again this year. Council approved the motion.

Motion to adjourn by David Christensen, 2^nd by Ron Doonan, motion carried.

Next meeting will be June 16^th at 7 pm.
