Immanuel Lutheran Church

1700 19th Street, Harlan, Iowa

Immanuel Lutheran Church invites you to "An Evening with Martin and Katy" in celebration of the 500th anniversary of the Reformation.  Johan and Sonja Hinderlie have portrayed the roles of 16th century reformer Martin Luther and his wife Katarina since 1979.

They present the testimony of these amazing people in full costume with the flavor of the Reformation time in Germany.

The Hinderlies proclaim the gospel of the forgiveness of sins in Jesus Christ through these presentations while presenting interesting anecdotes on the life and times of this unusual couple.

Their stories reveal the theological focus of Luther’s teaching: sola scriptura, sola gratia, and sola fide. (word alone, grace alone, and faith alone).  Katy also tells of her escape from the Nimbschen convent, life with Martin and coping with suffering and death in her family.

The Luther drama will make you laugh...cause you to think...lead you to pray.

The Hinderlies live in Minnesota where Johan helps with recovery ministry in two churches and Sonja is nanny to four grandchildren.  Together they led Mount Carmel Ministries in Alexandria from 1984 to 2012.  For more information, see their website <martinandkaty.com>.

Refreshments will be served after the evening performance.
